Dave drops Game Over. The wait is over and the bar has been set. Dave also known as Santan Dave drops his second Extended Playlist, Game Over. Our writers have described it as his most powerful and honest EP yet. Released on 3rd November 2017, it’s been replaying since.
Dave’s first appearance on Blackbox and Fire In The Booth, at just 17 years old, before his rise to fame had us all captivated with his wordplay. It’s clear he has been lyrically blessed. His last EP, Six Paths was released in September 2016. In addition to well put together tracks, it included some incredible visuals. It even features a Santan Dave original Wanna Know, a song that OVO artist Drake remixed.
Game Over consists of 7 tracks of pure emotion and only one feature from MoStack. The young artist from Streatham, South London seems to be carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. His rapping tells the most self-explained stories of all the struggles he faces being a teenage boy, growing up in a deprived environment. The track Question Time helps us realise that Dave cares about society, the way he questions the current Government. This particular rap hits home with a lot of people, to know that Dave is openly rapping about the current affairs of the world, he calls the Government out on the recent infamous fire of Grenfell Tower in addition to other issues that clearly need addressing, it also includes monologues. We wouldn’t expect this from an artist that is still in his teens.
Despite this, he also raps about issues with girls’ which is more expected of a 19 year old rapper. How I Met My Ex is a story about how he fell for a girl and how it was all so good but went wrong. It explains the difficulty of being a young man in the music industry. One the factors being a mass amount of attention from female fans. The EP consists of serious pieces with dark and intense beats with a couple of more upbeat and lighter vibes such as No Words and Calling Me Out, Game Over gives us an insight to Santan Dave’s views in life. He shares his ambitions and goals and isn’t shy to rap about how he’s got to where he currently is.
I got no words for this bruddah. King Dave
