Rag N Bone Man Human Tour is in full effect and we swung by the Manchester Academy to catch the show. He is currently travelling Europe on his tour of his number one debut album ‘Human’. I for one have never seen an artist receive so much love from an audience. Throughout the entire gig whenever he wasn’t singing or engaging with the crowd he was receiving cheers and applause for the whole set. He appeared extremely humbled by the admiration he received and it is good to see him being credited for his years and years of work.
His performance on the tour was second to none, belting out every note of every track pretty much perfectly, he really has nailed his stage presence and there’s something special about seeing an artist use their raw voice with such variety. His songs vary from the tracks he was performing back in the days of his ‘Wolves EP’ right up to the tracks from his debut album. It’s good to see artists sticking to their roots and not leaving the lesser known tracks out, especially when in my opinion these are just as good as his newer material.
As well as being blown away by Rag N Bone Man, his live band, and the huge love shown by the Manchester crowd I found a great new artist in his support act. The opening act were Rum Committee which again shows Rag N Bone Man sticking to his roots, this is the crew he was a part of before any of this and it shows a great side of his character to bring them up with him. Also the mention of High Focus and Dirty Dike showed the extra props thrown their way, making me believe he is truly a humble guy, very appreciative of the journey he has come on, and where he can go.
The support act that truly spoke to me though was not a hip hop act. And not usually the musical area I go with. This guy was playing the piano and the cello within the same song! He also performed with more passion than I have ever seen contained in one person before. Dan Caplen is more suited to the R&B genre, but that is a very loose link. He is someone that if he keeps performing like this, creating tracks like these, could well explode in a couple of years. Keep your eyes out for his name around this site. And as always head over to Spotify or Itunes and check him out. Energy, vocals, and musical talent, what a music act should be this guy definitely is.
