We’re getting closer to the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble, so of course it’s time to look at the potential winners. For the first time in history, we will also see a 30 women Royal Rumble.
Enzo Amore vs Cedric Alexander
I personally dislike Enzo Amore so I’m hoping he drops the Cruiserweight title to Cedric, who in my opinion, is far more deserving of the title. Before Rich Swann got suspended it looked like he was getting a push in 205, but the attention has turned toward Cedric who I predict will defeat Enzo at the Rumble.
The Usos vs Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin
This is a 2 out of 3 falls match, which I’m really looking forward to. Both teams are strong and display great tag team wrestling. Smackdown had a great feature with Chad and Shelton temporarily being crowned as champions, before a referee ruling against the decision. I can’t see the Rumble being the right time for the Usos to drop the titles, so I think Jimmy and Jay will retain.
Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan vs Sheamus and Cesaro
Jason Jordan has been forced down our throats (much like Roman Reigns was a few years ago). Fortunately, WWE have realised that he won’t be a babyface they initially expected. Watch out for a heel turn soon, but it will be more toward Mania time than the Rumble. For the meantime, I expect Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins to retain (lets hope for another curb stomp to finish!)
AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
This storyline has run it’s course and I’ve not been invested from the start. It’s been more about Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon (look out for a match at Mania) rather than the three superstars. I think AJ Styles will retain but they have to switch it up on the road to Wrestlemania. We might have a fallout between Owens and Zayn.
Brock Lesnar vs Braun Strowman vs Kane
We need a fighting champion which Brock Lesnar is not. However, it’s well known that Brock has a contractual agreement not to drop the title. I think Brock will retain his title at the Royal Rumble and drop it to Braun Strowman at Mania.
30 Women Royal Rumble
History will be made at the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble, with the first ever 30 women Royal Rumble. The current roster doesn’t hold 30 superstars, so expect to see plenty of fan favourite returns. That being said, it wouldn’t make sense for anyone other than a current superstar to win. Nia Jax is one of the favourites and I’m going with her. We may see a Ronda Rousey appearance (potentially to eliminate Nia) which would see them square off at Wrestlemania.
30 Man Royal Rumble
My personal favourite match of the year. There’s not been an excellent Rumble in a while (last year’s was decent) but I’m hoping for some huge spots and twists/turns. It’s incredibly difficult to predict a winner (Samoa Joe was up there until he pulled out due to injury). The full 30 man list hasn’t been confirmed, but we will be seeing the likes of Randy Orton, Finn Balor, Nakamura and John Cena. I’m going with Cena as the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble winner, which will setup a title match at Mania where he will overtake Ric Flair‘s 16 time champion accoldate. Ric has previously given his blessing for Cena to hold the record and this is possibly the last time it can happen.
