Fans have been looking forward to a McGregor return for quite some time. Since he defeated Eddie Alvarez it’s been quite a story (we wouldn’t expect anything less) for the former champion. UFC 229 has already sold out, and despite McGregor being inactive from the division, the hype hasn’t died. Firstly, it’s worth pointing out the press conference had a completely different feel. Media-only and no fans set a strange tone and one we’re not used to. Dana was asked why fans weren’t allowed to the presser, and he simply responded by saying “there were problems in New York, I didn’t want any problems today”.
The general opinion on McGregor seems to be shifting. A lot of fans online have criticised his performance in the press conference. There are suggestions McGregor was high, and his trash talking is becoming tiring. Khabib remained fully composed in a quiet, but confident manner. McGregor did a great job for the cameras as always, and has inevitably drawn attention to the fight. Conor was challenged on whether he needed to return after the Mayweather bout, and indirectly asked about the reason for his return. Conor reiterated throughout the presser the sole reason to fight was due to the love.
The entire video lasts over an hour, but the start of the press conference starts at 40:04. Who do you think will take the W on 6th October? You can watch the UFC 229 Press Conference | McGregor vs Khabib on the YouTube player below.
